So the following is all about my sound system,
It’s an amateur installation of course, but I still
did the whole thing myself !
No Radio, so sorry for those radio stations in Montréal…
I will though, add a USB Radio one day.
But !?
I do have a computer acting as my sound system.
I have a laptop in the trunk, in a foamed packed
wooden box I built for the computer.
My Laptop is not much really. Celeron 366, 128 ram,
6gig hard drive, Pcmcia 10/100 ethernet card. It’s
prolly the next thing that should be changed. But it’s
one of the most expensive of the upgrades. :mad:
The connection between the laptop and the amplifier is by
A Creative Sound Blaster Extigy 24 bit Usb Sound Card,
It is located at the front of my car replacing the actual location
of a normal radio, you can also see my wireless keyboard IR
receiver and the master switch for the whole system.
The keyboard fits just right in my glove compartment.
Just Below the Monitor you can find a Ps2 Mouse
Touch Pad, where the air vents were before.
The Creative Extigy is connected to a Coustic 480W RMS Amplifier:
Under the custom “bottom plate” of my trunk,
Since the whole thing is under the “bottom plate”, to be
sure there’s proper air circulation; 2 standard 12v computer
fans.
Under there lies also, a 300W 120v ac/dc power converter.
My Ac/Dc Converter powers my Laptop, my Usb Hub,
My Sound Blaster Creative Extigy, My Cable/Wireless
Router, (hehe) yeah I’ll get to that.
There"s also an extra battery connected to a 1 Farad Power Flow:
A fused power distribution node; for all the 12v components.
Since, I just installed my strut bars, I know need to Re-arange
my trunk a little bit. Because the Sub is no longer at the same
place and I will change those fans for 120mm ones and reverse
one of them so the circulation is better.
For fun I also put sound activated green neons under my seats,
hehe :D bah for 40$ it"s just cool.
My Amplifier powers with a bridge of 2 of its 4 Channels,
a 250 RMS MTX Thunder 6000 single voice call;
 
With each 2 other channels I power my front and rear Speakers;
Infiniti 6X9 in the rear:
And Infiniti 5¼ with Tweeters in the front:
I actually sort of, replaced the Old tweeters, yeah!
That car had stock tweeters :cool: needed a bit of
easy modification and it fits perfectly!
In the front we have an Orbit 5.6inch LCD monitor,
Connected to a Multi-Video Adaptor converter,
Because I don’t have a tv-out on My laptop. This
adaptor is able to change a VGA video signal to
any RCA, S-Video or RGB connections. I use it to
output to RCA, then to my Orbit monitor.
This monitor acts has a normal computer monitor,
I see my whole windows and everything, I See my
Winamp screen, I can even play Music Videos.
But lately I"ve been trying out this new player
Called the Frodo Player. Plays Mp3s and Videos,
But does so much more also! It"s made for cars!
Here"s a preview:
In the middle consol between the 2 Seats I’ve
put in a small hole used normally for Containing
money, glasses, etc;
A Usb Number pad Keyboard
Used as a quick command function for
Playing multimedia files and also it gives a chances to
the people in the back to control the sound system a bit.
Just Below the USB Number pad, we have a Usb Plug
Coming out of the center console, where we can plug
any usb Device, such has a Usb Memory Stick 128mb
To transfer files from my home computer
or from work, easily to my car.
Or even plug a Wireless network adaptor (hehe) :D ,
Now if you ever come across my car, you’ll see
2 Small antennas in the back coming out of the
“roof carpet” under the rear window, these are
antennas to my SMC Wireless Router,
Which his connected by cable trough my Pcmcia
Ethernet card on my Laptop.
I can use this router to access my computer
Trough any computer with a wireless card and
A VNC client ExE. Or, with a Wireless Capable
Pocket PC, with VNC on it.
Which I can use to control my laptop From away,
I got really close to 1000feet and still working!
I see the Exact picture of my Laptop monitor,
very clear One, I might add!
(T.S.)Terminal Server, which was my first choice,
but I tried and failed Windows XP on the Laptop.
Not fast enough to play Mp3s with the Creative
Extigy and only 128mb ram!
So since I couldn’t go for T.S. I went for Win98
With VNC, works like a charm, and also, I can Still
work in the car, at the same time I"m connected
with the Pocket PC, which WinXP"s T.S. doesn’t let you.
Also cool new thing with my SMC Wireless Adaptor,
I can plug my Wireless Adapter and connect
to my router inside my appartment, gives me
internet, and everything in the car!
Now I just need the Cell! For full time! :cool:

Yeah I Know it"s a bit everywhere, although,
it makes a perfect job, I sort of had to be
careful on how much I used, strict budget! :p
Im gonna try to finish it with Resito, might work!
Well I guess that’s About it for the Sound System.
